
WINNIPEG, January 26, 2026 — Film Training Manitoba (FTM), DOC Manitoba and FascinAsian Film Festival are proud to announce a two-day Cinematography Masterclass with acclaimed cinematographer Iris Ng, taking place February 14–15, 2026.
This immersive professional development opportunity is designed for film professionals seeking deeper insight into the creative and practical realities of working as a cinematographer.
“Iris Ng is meticulous, collaborative, creative and makes the process of making a film an absolute joy. Her ability to be a rigorous perfectionist in her work at the same time as maintaining a calm, organized atmosphere on set is awe-inspiring,” said Sarah Polley, Academy Award-Winning Filmmaker.
On February 14th, Ng will be conducting a moderated session with veteran filmmaker Kevin Nikkel to discuss the latest trends in visual storytelling, collaborating with directors, and the evolving role of cinematographers.
Following the masterclass, registered participants will have the opportunity for a 25-minute one-on-one career coaching session with Ng, offering personalized guidance tailored to individual career paths in cinematography.
About Iris Ng:
Iris Ng is an internationally respected cinematographer whose work spans feature documentaries and television.
“Iris Ng is known for her thoughtful visual language and collaborative approach. She has contributed to a wide range of productions that have screened at major festivals and received critical acclaim. We’re delighted to conduct this exciting program,” said FTM’s Executive Director Adam Smoluk.
Over the course of her career, Iris Ng has worked closely with leading filmmakers and directors, including Academy Award–winning Filmmaker Sarah Polley. In 2024, Ng was announced as the subject of a special program highlighting her work at the Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival. Her experience behind the camera reflects a deep commitment to character-driven storytelling, visual authenticity, and mentorship within the film community. In addition to her production work, Ng is highly regarded as an educator and mentor, making her uniquely suited to guide filmmakers at pivotal stages of their careers.
