Attendees will enjoy a lively, moderated conversation featuring industry insights, followed by an open Q&A with the audience. The event is free and open to all University of Winnipeg students, faculty, and members of the public. A networking reception will follow the session, offering a chance to connect, share ideas, and continue the conversation. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout the Panelists:\n\n\n\nAndrew Yankiwski caught the audio production bug as a hobbyist in 1992. Andrew founded Precursor Production in 2000 out of the need to have a dedicated studio for his own music projects, but it quickly attracted clients and students.\n\n\n\nNaturally drawn toward boundary-pushing audio, he created innovative studio workflows to infuse Precursor’s audio production with this spirit. He also developed Precursor’s audio production courses from the ground-up in response to the limitations of traditional audio production training.\n\n\n\nPrecursor Productions has become an industry leading post-production facility in Winnipeg that has worked with nearly every major entertainment brand, including: Netflix, HBO, Amazon Studios, Apple Studios, Warner Bros., Sony Pictures Animation and many others.\n\n\n\nAndrew has an undergraduate Arts degree (History major, English minor) and a Law Degree from the University of Manitoba.\n\n\n\nHis volunteer work as a board member of New Media Manitoba and as Chair of Film Training Manitoba reflects his passion for film, digital technology and video games.\n\n\n\nHis career highlights include recording Liam Neeson’s ADR for The Marksman, dubbing Mark Hamill for episodes of The Sandman series, recording Natalia Dyer’s ADR on episodes of Stranger Things season 4, recording Dan Bakkedahl’s ADR for the final episode of Veep and recording Hilary Swank’s narration for the documentary Becoming Annika.\n\n\n\nJoshua Hood is a Writer and Producer based in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He first picked up a camera at three-years-old, and has never put one down since.\n\n\n\nHe began working in television with Shaw TV Winnipeg as a Producer/Editor, creating content with the channel for three years. Joshua has edited hundreds of hours of local television, produced dozens of news-style stories, short and full-length documentaries, and acted as Showrunner for three seasons of his award-winning comedy series, Millworth.\n\n\n\nWorking as a Script Supervisor in the Manitoba Film Industry, Joshua has worked on several major productions in the province, including CTV Comedy’s #1 Series, Acting Good, eOne’s Orphan: First Kill, and Lionsgate’s The Long Walk. Joshua currently sits on the Executive Board of IATSE 856, and is the IATSE Rep for the On Screen Manitoba Board. He is also the Chair of the U of W Collegiate Alumni Association.\n\n\n\nDr. Lam An is an Assistant Professor of Marketing and Head of the Interaction, Cognition, and Emotion (ICE) Behaviour Research Lab at the University of Winnipeg. His research focuses on marketing communications and persuasion, with recent work aimed at mitigating misinformation, encouraging sustainable behaviours, and improving financial well-being.\n\n\n\nLeveraging cutting-edge technologies and real-time biometric data, Dr. An frequently collaborates with academic and industry partners on interdisciplinary projects that generate data-driven business decisions and create positive societal impact.\n\n\n\nTamara Roshka is a second-generation Indo-Canadian multidisciplinary artist and cinematographer based in Winnipeg. Her career spans both documentary and union film productions, blending a sharp eye for composition with strong technical expertise. Her documentary work honed her adaptability in dynamic environments, while her time on union productions gave her efficiency and experience on larger-scale sets. Passionate about advocacy and education, Tamara champions gender equity in the film industry and is dedicated to mentoring the next generation of creators.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout the Moderator:\n\n\n\nEmily Labby is the Training and Partnerships Manager at Film Training Manitoba. With a background in Film Studies from the University of Winnipeg, she’s accumulated a wide range of experience in the local film community. Emily has produced her own short films and contributed to various local independent projects and music videos, and served as Production Coordinator for local production companies such as, Frank Digital, Zoot Pictures, and Julijette Inc. Most recently, she directed and filmed a short for the One Take Super 8 Event at the 2025 WNDX Festival. \n
