Have you ever dreamed of working behind the scenes on film and TV sets, bringing characters to life through makeup? Whether you’re a beauty enthusiast or film lover, this hands-on workshop is your key into the exciting world of makeup artistry.
In this course, you’ll be led by makeup artist Margarita Vailas, who brings over a decade of experience in Manitoba’s film industry. This workshop will cover the essential steps to building a career in film and tv makeup.
Topics covered will include:
- How to break into the film and TV industry as a makeup artist
- The role of a makeup artist on a film set – from prep to wrap
- Resume tips and portfolio building tailored for film work
- Industry expectations and etiquette on set
- A wide range of makeup styles and techniques used for production
- A hands on demo session including: A clean, basic beauty application and an “out-of-kit” special effects makeup technique
About the Instructor:
Margarita Vailas is a Greek-Canadian makeup artist in the film community. She has been doing makeup and esthetics for over 20 years, but has been full-time in film for 10 years. She’s worked in Winnipeg and all over Greece during these times. Margarita is a mother of two little boys and is an advocate for women and period poverty. She collects products to send to northern communities.
