Winnipeg, MB – In celebration of its 15th year supporting the province’s film and television industry workforce, Film Training Manitoba (FTM) is providing awards to students from five of Manitoba’s post-secondary educational institutions.
The following students are the recipients of FTM’s 15th Anniversary bursaries:
- Braden Dereniwski − Assiniboine Community College’s Interactive Media Arts Program
- Camille Legal − University of Saint-Boniface’s Digital Multi-Media Program
- David McGregor − University of Manitoba’s Film Studies Program
- Jordan Welwood − Red River College’s Creative Communications Program
- Milos Mitrovic − University of Winnipeg’s Film Program
“Film Training Manitoba is delighted to recognize these exceptional students as well as our post-secondary partners,” said Executive Director Neila Benson. “What better way to mark our 15th anniversary year than to celebrate Manitoba’s aspiring filmmakers and future crew members.”
Instructors from each school selected a top student who they felt would benefit most from having the additional support as they pursue a potential career in the local film and television industry.
Each bursary consists of six online film training courses valued at $250.
“As our industry continues to grow, one of our goals is to encourage young, talented students to consider pursuing a career in the vibrant film and television industry,” said Brendon Sawatzky, FTM Board Chair. “The hope is that these bursaries will provide the recipients with an opportunity to explore career options that are an ideal match with their strengths and their passions.”
Since it first opened its doors in 1999, FTM has trained nearly 10,000 participants and crew members over the years in various film departments. The organization prides itself in working very closely with the industry to identify the training needs within the community.
