The Government of Canada and the Government of Manitoba will match donations to the 2025 Manitoba Wildfires Appeal from May 28 to June 27, 2025. Every $1 donated will become $3 to support the families and individuals most affected by the wildfires.
Donations to the Canadian Red Cross will be used for assisting those impacted by the wildfires in Manitoba with immediate and ongoing relief including financial assistance, support to evacuees and the communities hosting them, recovery and resilience efforts in response to the wildfires, as well as supporting community preparedness and risk reduction for future all-hazard disaster events within Manitoba.
Donations made in response to it are used to help individuals and communities identified in the appeal recover from emergencies and disasters. The funds will be designated for the purpose for which they were given. In the unlikely event that they raise more money than can be reasonably and effectively spent, they will strive to use any residual funds for similar purposes and/or in a similar geography to respond to other disasters and humanitarian needs throughout Canada. The fundraising costs, including trust fund management, related to any emergency appeal will not exceed eight per cent.
