Manitoba’s workforce development and training organization Film Training Manitoba (FTM) has awarded Robert Macklin the Carole Vivier Distinguished Builder Award at ACTRA Manitoba’s Annual General Meeting held on Tuesday, June 6, 2023.
This honour recognizes Manitobans who have contributed outstanding years of service building Manitoba’s film and TV industry.
Macklin has served as the branch representative for ACTRA Manitoba for over twenty years and has served on a vast collection of industry advisory committees and boards. Macklin was selected unanimously by FTM’s board of directors and Carole Vivier, the former CEO and Film Commissioner of Manitoba Film and Music. The honour was presented by FTM’s Chair Andrew Yankiwski (Managing Partner of Precursor Productions), FTM’s Managing Director Adam Smoluk, and Carole Vivier. Read more.

This honour is to recognize Manitobans who have contributed outstanding years of service in building Manitoba’s film and TV industry.
Oswald was selected unanimously by FTM’s board of directors and Carole Vivier, the former CEO and Film Commissioner of Manitoba Film and Music. Sheldon was selected unanimously by FTM’s board of directors and Carole Vivier the former CEO and Film Commissioner of Manitoba Film and Music.

Nationally renowned costume designer Heather Neale was the recipient of the SWIFT award which was created by Film Training Manitoba (FTM)’s Board of Directors to recognize long-serving leaders in Manitoba’s film community that champion the spirit of FTM’s SWIFT. Read More.
Emmy award-winning producer Vonnie Von Helmolt was selected to be the first honorary SWIFT committee member. This honour was to recognize her role in being the founding chair of FTM and her years of service to the film industry in Canada.
SWIFT’s committee designed a special one-of-a-kind coat with Von Helmolt’s name embroidered on it. Read More.
Long-serving film industry professional Ellen Rutter has been awarded the first FTM Supporting Women in Film Trades (SWIFT) Award. This award was presented on the last day of the conference and will be an annual SWIFT award. Read More.
Film Training Manitoba (FTM) and the Manitoba Institute of Trades and Technology (MITT) held a joint meeting on March 23, 2021 to recognize Beverlie Stuart’s critical leadership role in the development and launch of FTM and MITT’s innovative ACTION! Plan. Beverlie Stuart is the current Acting Vice President, Academic at MITT.
