Our team at Film Training Manitoba (FTM) wants to wish The Directors Guild of Canada – Manitoba District Council’s Gary Nelson a happy retirement!
Gary’s career as a Union Representative began in 1977. Most of his career has been in the representation of nurses and other health care professionals in Canada, and the United States. He has worked as a Board Officer with the Manitoba Labour Board and as a Labour Relations Officer with the University of Manitoba.
In 2017 Gary joined the Directors Guild of Canada here in Winnipeg, as its Business Agent.
“Our entire team at FTM has benefited from Gary’s advice and support of training in our film community. We all want to wish him the best in his well-earned retirement.” Said FTM’s Managing Director Adam Smoluk.
Gary is also actively involved in public education, serving as an elected member of his local school board for 30 years. He is set to retire on December 31, 2021.
FTM is a non for profit charity of the Province of Manitoba’s sector council program through the Department of Economic Development and Jobs. FTM builds a highly skilled and adaptable film industry workforce to support the activities of Manitoba production companies. FTM collaborates with members of the film and television industry to identify the training needs within the community.
