About the Workshop:
Join award-winning Vietnamese-Canadian Cinematographer as he takes you through the basics of shooting with digital cameras, including the most accessible devices, and covering a range of budgets and filming scenarios. If you are interested in creating your own films, want to expand your knowledge of cameras, or simply want to capture good-quality video, this workshop is for you!
Quan will cover cinematography fundamentals like lensing, coverage, lighting, white balance, and exposure that he uses on every project from travel documentaries, to commercials and scripted productions.
About the Instructor:
Quan Luong is a Vietnamese-Canadian cinematographer whose work has been recognized at prestigious festivals including DOC NYC, Hot Docs, and the Canadian Film Festival.
He is a two-time Canadian Society of Cinematographers Award nominee for his work on the short documentaries Tailor Made and I Hurt Myself. His portfolio bridges the worlds of scripted and unscripted storytelling. Quan’s extensive Film and TV credits include lensing Finding Diamonds for CBC Gem, Taken Season 5 for APTN, and the Kevin Hart-executive produced feature Don’t F**k With Ghosts.
Some of his current projects include the Paramount+ true crime series Lone Star Slayings with director John Barnard, Mike Maryniuk’s NFB hybrid film Born to be Wild, and the upcoming CBC/APTN kids series Stevie and The Sacred Animals, co-directed by Dinae Robinson and three-time Emmy-winning director J.J. Johnson.
