FascinAsian Film Festival – FREE Panel Discussion – The Current State of Asian Representation in Media – In Partnership with Film Training Manitoba
Date: May 25, 2024 (11:00 AM)
Location: Qaumajuq – Inuit Art Centre at the WAG
Join the FascinAsian Film Festival for an informative and engaging discussion on what the media landscape looks like for Asian representation now. With Asian perspectives and stories breaking into the mainstream like never before, are the institutional efforts to create more diversity in media working? Movies like Past Lives, Queen of My Dreams, and shows like Beef, Master of None, and Kim’s Convenience, have succeeded in showing Asians as engaging lead characters, while going beyond stereotypes and cliches. We are also seeing the rise of Asians in comedy, music, literature, social media and more. Join moderator, CBC Radio’s Faith Fundal, for what we are sure will be an enlightening discussion.
