
WINNIPEG, February 18, 2025 – On March 20, 2025, Film Training Manitoba (FTM) and The University of Winnipeg’s Finance and Economics Students’ Association will conduct a special session on the business of the film industry.
This 90-minute panel will be conducted on campus at the UW’s Centennial Hall on the 3rd floor at 515 Portage Avenue. It will serve as both a forum for the attendees to learn about the various jobs and careers in the film industry and the effects on Manitoba’s economy.
“Film Training Manitoba is honoured to be working with The University of Winnipeg’s Finance and Economics Students’ Association.” Said FTM’s Executive Director Adam Smoluk. “As a member of the Province of Manitoba’s dynamic Sector Council program, FTM conducts a wide range of partnerships that support our important mandate of engaging Manitobans on the various jobs and careers in our growing film industry. We deeply appreciate the efforts of the UW’s staff and students in launching this.” He added.
This session will feature a collection of University of Winnipeg alumni which includes Rebecca Gibson (Co-Owner of Eagle Vision, Producer, Writer, Director, Series Creator and Showrunner), Trevor Hnatowich (Co-Owner of Enjoy Creative), Tom Soares (Instructor and Actor), and Myron Tataryn (Co-Owner of Thundersnow Pictures Inc and Director) and will be moderated by FTM’s Training and Partnerships Manager Emily Labby.
