Film Training Manitoba and Ukrainian Canadian Congress Manitoba Provincial Council Partner on New Four-Part Training Series on Careers in the Film Industry

LtR: Ukrainian Canadian Congress Manitoba Provincial Council (UCC-MPC)’s President Joanne Lewandosky and Film Training Manitoba (FTM)’s Executive Director Adam Smoluk

WINNIPEG, September 24, 2024 – Film Training Manitoba (FTM)’s Executive Director Adam Smoluk and Ukrainian Canadian Congress Manitoba Provincial Council (UCC-MPC)’s Manitoba President Joanne Lewandosky recently met to partner and launch a new series of welcoming panel training sessions for Ukrainians at Film Training Manitoba offices in 2024 and 2025.

The first session was held on September 12, with a film industry panel of five professionals of Ukrainian descent who shared their personal experiences of entering and advancing in Manitoba’s film industry. Over 42 participants attended the session, and as a result of the positive participant evaluations and feedback, the two organizations are adding three additional sessions. The next session is scheduled for November 14, 2024 (5:30 PM to 7:30 PM). Registrations are now open.

“This exciting partnership with Film Training Manitoba presents a valuable opportunity for the Ukrainian community to learn more about jobs and careers in the film industry in a positive and supportive environment.” Said Joanne Lewandosky.

During the sessions, a UCC-MPC staff member will be on hand to provide a special introduction and advice about further resources. The UCC-MPC will also promote the session in the community, with FTM programming the speakers and hosting the event.

“As a proud Ukrainian Canadian, I’m deeply honoured FTM and the UCC-MPC are partnering for this highly responsive series to forge this important connection and relationship. FTM’s deep network of employers and film professionals will be engaged to support this important initiative.” Said FTM’s Adam Smoluk
