Film Training Manitoba Meets with New Minister of Economic Development & Jobs Jon Reyes

Manitoba’s newly appointed Minister of Economic Development and Jobs, Jon Reyes, recently invited Film Training Manitoba (FTM)’s Managing Director Adam Smoluk to the MB Legislative Building to discuss FTM’s innovative workforce development programming.

As a member of the Manitoba Sector Council Program, FTM provides workforce development for Manitoba’s dynamic film industry. 

In 2020-2021, FTM posted the highest participant numbers in the company’s 22-year history which included the launch of a new collection of partnerships with Manitoba secondary and post-secondary schools including the Manitoba Institute of Trades and Technology, RRC Polytech, and Tech Voc. FTM had 1,962 total participations, breaking last year’s previous record total of 1,435. FTM’s programming also included 19 COVID-19 training courses.

“FTM appreciates the Province of Manitoba’s support of FTM which builds and grows Manitoba’s film industry workforce,” said FTM’s Managing Director Adam Smoluk. “I appreciated meeting with Minister Reyes and the great advice he provided on connecting with the new generation of Manitobans about the excellent jobs and careers in our growing Province.”


FTM is a member of the Province of Manitoba’s sector council program through the Department of Economic Development and Training. FTM builds a highly skilled and adaptable film industry workforce to support the activities of Manitoba production companies. FTM collaborates with members of the film and television industry to identify the training needs within the community.
