About the instructors
Tor Rolf Johansen
Cinematography Product Specialist, Blackmagic Design
Tor Rolf Johansen is a cinematography product specialist for Blackmagic Design. He has won six Emmys for directing and producing, and one as a photographer, in the Los Angeles market. Before joining Blackmagic Design, Tor designed and built a 24/7 government television station from the ground up: GTV6 in Glendale, CA. As broadcast manager he designed the facility, including all edit bays, equipment rooms and green screen sound stage, while also establishing all of the in-house original programming. On the side, Tor ran an independent commercial production company whose clients included The Beverly Hilton Hotel, Pinkberry, CJ Jeans, GWP, Neiman Marcus, InStyle Magazine, The Discovery Channel, KCET, ESPN, MTV, The Magic Johnson Foundation, cars.com, Autism Speaks and The Gas Company.
Sean Manton
Territory Manager – Canada, Blackmagic Design
Originally from Boston, Sean began studying photography in high school. He attended Ithaca College in upstate New York and ultimately graduated in 1991 with a Bachelors Degree in Cinema and Photography. After college, he moved to Los Angeles and began working for Buena Vista Pictures at the Walt Disney Studios. A few years later, he landed a job at Panavision and would hold several positions there over the following eight years. During his tenure at Panavision he also began working part time for NFL Films on a seasonal basis. At the end of 2000, Sean resigned from Panavision to pursue freelance camerawork and to devote himself to his own projects and artistic endeavors. In 2001, Sean experienced the proudest moment of his life when he became a father. After several years of freelance work on both coasts, including ongoing work with NFL Films, Sean eventually returned to the shop in 2007 to serve as Rental Manager at The Camera House in North Hollywood. One year into that position, Sean was then tapped to become the Manager of The Digital Film Company which was one of the first truly data-centric post-production facilities. In 2009 Sean immigrated to Canada in order to stay close to his daughter who had moved to Toronto with her mom. When he first arrived in Canada he worked at Vistek in Toronto and then in 2015 he was hired by Blackmagic Design to act as the Territory Manager for Canada which is a job he thoroughly enjoys to this day.
