Sydney Sabiston with her Audience Choice MIP Award

On May 24, 2024, ACTRA Manitoba celebrated their annual Member Initiated Productions (MIP) showcase at the ACTRA Manitoba MIP Screening at Prairie Theatre Exchange. This year’s MIP Showcase was their biggest event so far, with over 250 attendees! The showcase presented eleven new shorts at the screening.

Film Training Manitoba (FTM) wishes to congratulate ACTRA Manitoba on their successful event!

FTM is excited to celebrate their very own Training and Partnerships Manager, Sydney Sabiston, who won the ACTRA Manitoba Audience Choice Award for “Best MIP” for her short film, Clem. Congratulations, Sydney!

“Sydney Sabiston continues to have a wide collection of accomplishments, and our entire team at FTM are all very excited to see her build and grow her career.” Said FTM’s Executive Director Adam Smoluk.

 FTM also wishes to congratulate all the filmmakers who participated in this year’s MIP Screening and the additional award recipients!


FTM is a member of the Province of Manitoba’s sector council program funded through the Department of Economic Development and Training. FTM builds a highly skilled and adaptable film industry workforce to support the activities of Manitoba production companies. FTM collaborates and partners with members of the film and television industry to identify training needs to support workforce development output.
