Input will Inform Strategy to Grow Economy, Lift Wages: Moses
April 24, 2025 – The Manitoba government is consulting Manitobans on the development of Manitoba’s economic development strategy, Business, Mining, Trade and Job Creation Minister Jamie Moses announced today.
“Our government is listening to Manitobans and business and labour leaders across the province to ensure we build an economic development strategy that will grow our economy and create good jobs,” said Moses. “We’re working together to deliver higher wages for Manitobans, strengthen the economy and make life better for Manitoba workers and their families.”
The consultation process will focus on the types of policies needed to boost productivity, encourage investment, drive innovation, strengthen Manitoba’s workforce, increase participation and support economic reconciliation across the province, noted the minister. It builds on the work of the Premier’s Business and Jobs Council, which has brought together perspectives from business leaders across multiple sectors, labour, Indigenous organizations, municipalities and the public to ensure Manitoba is charting the right economic course, added Moses.
“We are pleased to be working in collaboration with a government that will be listening to stakeholders to build a strategy that diversifies our economy and supports Manitobans as we navigate the current economic uncertainty and work together in alignment to build a strong economic future for Manitoba,” said Bram Strain, president and CEO, Business Council of Manitoba.
Members of the public are invited to participate in the consultation at: https://engagemb.ca/economicdevelopment.
The consultation will remain open until May 20.
